Principal: Chris Thomas
I am thrilled to be the principal of Glacier Park Elementary, a top-notch learning community, with hard working students and a wonderfully caring school staff. It is also gratifying to know that we have a supportive PTSA and that our parent group is committed to the growth and success of each child. I look forward to this continued partnership between home and school.
In my 15 years in the Bellevue School District, I worked to improve the rigor and thinking skills of students as a teacher and administrator. I am enthusiastic about the Classroom 10 Initiative and supporting students to be successful in the technology age. Given the goals of the Tahoma School District, this feels like a super match. John J. Medina, author of Brain Rules, mentions “The critical attribute of intelligent human beings is not only having information, but also knowing how to act on it.” The Classroom 10 initiative and much of our work at Glacier Park will squarely address this need to prepare our students for a vastly changing world. More information on Classroom 10 can be reviewed on the TSD website www.tahomasd.us.
I am very pleased to be a part of the Glacier Park learning community and look forward to meeting more of the kids and families. If you would like to contact me, please feel free to call (425-413-3700) or e-mail me at cthomas@tahomasd.us.
Personal:
I attended the Tahoma School District K-12. I earned a B.A. in Communication (Boise State University), a Masters in Education (City University 1995) and my Administrative Credentials in 2000 (City University). My wife and I just celebrated our marriage of 13 years and we have two elementary age children. For recreation, I enjoy reading, biking, golfing and coaching little league sports. |
