District complies with USDA request to remove beef

Tahoma School District is complying with a request from the United States Department of Agriculture to not serve beef received from Westland Meat Co. Tahoma located and removed eight cases of pre-cooked beef that originated from Westland Meat Co. The eight cases will not be used by the school district. Tahoma will continue serving beef products from other sources.

News reports indicate that some of the beef processed by Westland could be from unhealthy cows.

The school district does not use any raw beef in preparing school meals. All beef supplied to the school district is precooked. It is then cooked again before it is served to students or staff.
