EALR #1: The student writes clearly and effectively.
1.1 Develop concept and design (organization/ideas)
  • Communicates meaning with pictures.

  • Experiments with spacing.

1.2 Use style appropriate to audience and purpose (sentence fluency, voice, word choice)
  • Communicates energy/mood through picture or early text.
  • Dictates Words.

  • Communicates feelings with color, shapes, line and style.
  • Writes letters in strings/copies environmental print.

3.1 Prewrite

  • Begins to form words and strings words together.

EALR #4: The student analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of written work.
4.1 Assess own strengths and needs for improvement
  • Identifies changes in drawings and writing over time.
  • Identifies qualities of effective writing by exploring the works of other authors.
4.2 Seek and offer feedback
  • Responds to the drawings/writing of others with relevant comments, compliments or questions.
