Registration Information

Children, ages 5-21 years, may attend Tahoma Public Schools. To enter school, a child must be age 5 before September 1 and provide proof of birth date. Call or visit your local school for more information or to register your child. Policies for early entrance and school attendance for those over 18 years of age may be obtained from the superintendent's office at the Central Services Center and the local library. State law provides that parents bear the responsibility of seeing that their children, ages 8-18, attend school regularly. Students are expected to be on time and attend all classes each day. They will remain on school grounds throughout the day unless excused by district officials.

Tahoma School District and all public school districts in the state must meet requirements established by the State Legislature and the State Board of Education. The Basic Education Act passed by the Legislature defines the school program by establishing the number of days of school, number of program hours for students per year, basic and work skill areas, teacher contact time, classroom-teacher ratios, and teacher certification. Tahoma schools meet and exceed requirements for a 180-day school year and the total hours of classroom instruction mandated by the Basic Education Act.

Office hours for Tahoma elementary schools are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The school site where children attend is dependent upon geographic boundaries and educational programs. Those questions can be answered by Kevin Patterson, Public Information Officer
