Parent-Teacher Associations play a key role in the Tahoma School District. Beyond the PTA's traditional role of raising funds to support school activities and programs, PTA members in Tahoma can be found in a classroom assisting a teacher, or testifying on a educational issue before a legislative committee.
The list of activities and programs put on by the PTA at each school is long and impressive. There are the bake sales and other traditional fund-raising projects, but there are also programs that feature special speakers addressing parents on issues. In each school, you can find a number of PTA members and other active parents helping out, whether they're serving as classroom volunteers or assisting in the library or computer lab.
Parents interested in getting involved in their school's PTA should contact the school for more information. Students will be bringing home PTA newsletters that include information on meetings and projects. Parents are encouraged to attend these meetings and become involved in the education of their children.
