Special EducationLake Wilderness Elementary School provides Special Education services for students from Preschool through Grade 6 . Placement options range from inclusive programs within the students' home school to out of district schools with specialized facilities. At Lake Wilderness Elementary, students may attend Preschool programs, SAIL (Successful Academics Independent Living) programs, Resource Room programs, Behavior Intervention programs, Speech and Language programs, and/or Occupational / Physical Therapy programs. Instruction can also be provided within the home for those students who are unable to attend school for medical reasons. Special education provides a range of support services from basic skills instruction to daily living skills. The instruction may replace the regular curriculum or may be used to support and supplement the regular curriculum. The type of instructional setting and the amount of the time provided for students is determined by the Individualized Education Program (IEP).
