DATES TO REMEMBER

  • Tahoma Junior High will be having its annual Toy Drive starting on December 8th and runs through December 19th. Last year’s event was very successful and we hope this will be the same!!! With the economic times that we are facing, this is an excellent opportunity for students to display their ability as a Community Contributor.

     

    Toys will be collected in student’s 2nd period class. Students that contribute toys will receive a free ticket into the school dance on December 18th.

     

    Toys must be new and unwrapped. You may also give financially by check or cash and is counted as $5 = 1 toy. . Checks need to be made out to TJH, indicate Toy Drive on the memo line. All toys and financial contributions will be given to the Maple Valley Food Bank.

  • December 4th                                     Blue/Gold basketball game at TJH beginning at 1:30.  The Dance team will perform between quarters.

     

    December 10th                                   Band Concert 7:00 pm

     

    December 12th                                  Early Release, Students excused at 11:15 am

     

    December 17th                                  Choir Concert 7:00 pm

     

    December 18th                                  Student Dance 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

     

  • Math Competition for students in grades 5 – 8 in Federal Way on Dec. 13. Any students who would like to attend should contact Mrs. Shirley at Tahoma HS by e-mail(mshirley@tahomasd.us) or come to practice (not mandatory) at THS on Thursdays after school in Portable 1. 
  • Requests to change an elective class for 2nd semester will be accepted after winter break.  Schedule Change Request forms will be available for student pick up in the counseling center beginning Monday, January 12th. 

  • Green River Community College is hosting a Parent / Student Math Advisory Night on February 9th 2009.  This event is a great opportunity for your students to take the COMPAS for free and to get information on controlling college costs, high school math choices, and college math placement.  This event is designed for 8-12 graders. It is a free event, and will fill up fast!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • There are five weeks left this semester (ending January 23rd) – please make sure you are checking both, the teacher websites (accessed through TJH website) for daily work and Family Access for grades on a regular basis.  Please contact your student’s teacher(s) if you have a concern.

  • Parents invited to Speak UP

    Tahoma parents and students are invited to participate in a national survey about 21st Century education, called Speak Up. Data from the survey will be available in January and could help us and other districts as they plan and implement curriculum. To access the survey, please click here.

  • Cell Phones for Soldiers - Tahoma Junior High School located at 25600 SE Summit-Landsburg Rd. in Ravensdale is now an official drop-off site for Cell Phones for Soldiers.  Used, old and broken cell phones and their chargers are collected in the main office to be recycled through this nonprofit organization.  Proceeds purchase calling cards for soldiers serving abroad.  For more information, visit www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com.
  • e-Funds for Schools - Tahoma School District will offer families more electronic payment options this year as part of the e-Funds for Schools program. In addition to paying for food service, families now may use the electronic payment system for ASB cards, PE uniforms and yearbooks. Click here for more information about E Funds.

  • Forms and other documents are available by clicking Forms & Documents on the menu bar (field trip, oral medication, emergency card, school fees, etc).

  • Grades - Remember to check your student’s grades using your Skyward Family Account on a regular basis to help your student stay focused and be successful.  If you need your access info, please contact the main office at 425-413-5605.
