Philosophy: "No Limits"

Practice Expectations:

  • Practice is daily from 3:00 to 5:15 . Meet in bleachers at 3:00 !
  • All athletes are required to clean up and put away equipment after each practice and home meets (blocks, mats, pole vault equipment, etc.).
  • If an athlete is late to practice (due to doctor appointment, study table, education, etc.) they must check in with managers to get excused.
  • Warm-ups/Drills are required for athletes to participate in practice and meets.
  • Be prepared to practice in all types of weather (have sweats with you).
  • Athletes must be at school for the entire day in order to participate in practice (medical appointments may be the only exceptions).

Meet and Invitational Expectations:

  • Attendance at meets (including Saturday Invites) is required. If an athlete is going to miss a meet, two weeks advance notice must be made or the athlete will be considered unexcused and will miss the next scheduled meet.
  • If an athlete does not practice the day before a meet, they must sit out that meet (unless absence was excused).
  • Athletes must participate in at least three events and no more than four.
  • Athletes must be at school for the entire day in order to participate in meets (medical appointments may be the only exceptions).
  • Electronic devices are not permitted on the track or infield during meets (WIAA rule).

Attendance:

  • 1 Unexcused = 1 missed meet
  • 2 Unexcused = 2 missed meets
  • 3 Unexcused = coach/athlete conference

* An unexcused absence is anything other then doctor appointment, missed day from school, or approved school related function. (All absences require a parent/doctor note)

Miscellaneous:

  • Squad Leaders : Responsible for squad and helping with attendance. Help facilitate drills. Extra seniors will mix within squads.
  • Weight room: Throwers 3:15-4:00 , Distance Sprinters and Jumpers 4:00-5:30 . A coach must be present with you in the weight room.
  • PR Awards: Awards are given out every Monday to athletes that improved personal records during previous meet.

Letter Requirements

The following point earning system will be used to declare letter award winners of VARSITY TRACK & FIELD:

  1. From the start of the season, an athlete must accumulate 30 points for a varsity letter. The 30 points required will be waived if an athlete qualifies for post season competition (including relays).
  2. Points will be given for season PR’s in meets (one point possible per meet). Base performance for determining season PR’s will be set at an athlete’s first meet. All other first time performances in a meet will set a base and PR point will be earned in following meets. 12 POINTS POSSIBLE
  3. For every week of perfect attendance, and no tardies, the candidate will receive 1 point. 12 points possible.
  4. 5 points will be given to anyone that brings out a new member that completes the season in good standing.
  5. A senior 3 year track athlete in good standing automatic letter.
  6. All letters will be awarded at coaches discretion.
  7. Points for placing are as follows:
  • Dual meet points:
    • 1st = 5 points, 2nd = 3 points, 3rd = 1 point
    • 1st Relay = 1 1/4 points
  • Four or more teams:
    • 1st = 10 points, 2nd = 8 points, 3rd = 6 point
    • 4th = 4 points, 5th = 2 points, 6th = 1 point
    • Relays = 1/4 points

Individual Awards

    Most Valuable:
    1 boy and 1 girl (chosen by team)
    Inspirational: 1 boy and 1 girl (chosen by team)
    Most Improved: 1 boy and 1 girl (chosen by team)
    School Record: Plaque to honor those who break school record
    Coaches Award:
