PTA AWARDS:

A sample of the activities and items that receive PTA funding are Link Crew, Student Club Support, Senior Awards Night, Academic Awards Breakfast, Art Award, Star Lab, Grad Night party and most, importantly, our unique Senior Scholarship Program. 
                  

CA$H for ART! ......
    
Yes, that's right.  Again this year, the PTA will purchase a fine art piece from one of you creative types.  If you submit your special piece for judging and your artwork is chosen, the PTA will purchase your winning art for $250!

Your portfolio can contain any (suitable for family viewing) artwork completed during 9th through 12th grades.  A brief statement expressing your
feelings about art will be the cover to your exceptional portfolio.  For more
information, go to the Art Room and pick up the Eligibility and
Requirements flyer.  You do not have to be enrolled in the Art class.

Deadline: Monday, May 5th at 2:30 p.m.  Please deliver your work to the Art Room.

Scholarship forms are available

Our local businesses and community groups provide many wonderful scholarships.  Including $6,500 from THS PTA if parents are members and it's never too late to join!
(Go to our membership page for more information on how to join the PTA.)  You can apply
for all scholarships with one application.

Scholarship packets are now available.  Please pick up your copy in the Counseling Center.  We encourage all seniors to fill out this one application, whether you will be attending a 2-year, 4-year or vocational school; whether you are athletic, academic, or just involved in school!  This year the packets include all forms in both hard copy and on disk!

Deadline is April 23rd.

We The People.... set sights on national competition!!      
     

Fresh from its 10th consecutive state championship title, the Tahoma High School We the People team is already preparing for national competition in Washington D.C.

We the People...the Citizen and the Constitution is an American government education program that also features a competition at district, state and national levels that focuses on knowledge and application of the U.S. Constitution.  The students are now working on the questions they must answer for the national competition.  The judging format requires that the students, who are divided into units of three to four students, provide a prepared response to specific questions and then answer follow-up questions from the judging panel.

We the People is divided into six units. 
Unit 1: Chris Jangala, June Peng, Karim Boukabou
Unit 2: Carly Sherwood, Dennis Collins, Chris Jangala
Unit 3: Nate Plesnicher, Justine Stark, Paul Harrison
Unit 4: Haley Gilge, Andreen Clausmeyer, Melonie Cooper 
Unit 5: Mike Ceasar, Jason Cucovate, Rachel Bishop
Unit 6: Matt Wood, Christine O'Connel, Julia Marquand

Students also will be raising funds to pay for their trip to the nation's capital.

The judges who witnessed Tahoma's performance were clearly impressed. 
"I absolutely applaud your efforts and your teacher" said Tom Ellington, an attorney and veteran We the People judge.  "Our future is in good hands."


We the People will compete at nationals in Washington D.C.

Student Recognition Awards......PTA recognizes students efforts!!!   

Tahoma Senior High School PTA continues the effort to recognize the hard work and achievement of students with the Student Recognition Awards, a cooperative program with the Tahoma Senior High School faculty.  This is the fourth year the THS PTA has used this program to recognize students for one or more of the following achievements: Improvement in academic effort and commitment; caring behavior; class or club participation.

Students selected for the Student Recognition Award have show extra effort during the first semester of this school year.  They were selected by THS Staff members.  Each student receives an award certificate and a letter of congratulations to the parents. 

The award recipients are:
     Thor Amundson, Shane Baker, Courtney Bell, Joshua Bufunda, Jillian Burton*, Matthew Dudley*, Stacy Gardner, Christopher Guest, Kevin Kooyman*, Brandon Many, Jonathan Martin, Katy Oesterle, Lindsey Pepper, Melissa Perozzo*, Ashley Schaffer, Kayla Seltz, Jennifer Smith, Rebecca Studtmann, Kristopher Stoeck, Alexander Terrill, John Tourangeau, Justin Walsh and Eric Wyatt.  (*denotes drawing winners.  Each received one free pizza compliments of Papa John's Pizza in Four Corners.)
